Consumer prices rose 8.5% in July, less than expected as inflation pressures ease a bit.
Consumer sentiment plummets as recession looms large. The only time in the last decade consumers were more pessimistic was in April 2020, at the height of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Expect a foreclosure spike in the coming months. Pandemic backlog of seriously distressed mortgages expected to fuel the increase, although bump-up will remain below historical average.

According to a study by Consumer Affairs, 78% of Americans expect a housing-market crash. What may surprise you is that 63% of those surveyed want a housing crash.
Home Buyers Pulling Back More Than Sellers. New listings are down 12% from a year ago as sellers see there’s no more bidding wars.
Consumer Sentiment Moves Up. However, given that June was an all-time low, that doesn’t necessarily say that much.
